Operating Committees

Help shape the future of VAFC

VAFC is a community-based, volunteer-driven organization. Our programs are made possible by parents, coaches, alumni and community members who contribute their time, experience and ideas.

We are always looking for people to join our operating committees and help strengthen the Club—on and off the pitch. Committee members provide advice, review policies and proposals, support events and help VAFC respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.

What is the time commitment?

Most committees meet approximately once per month, typically online for about one hour. Depending on the committee, members may occasionally review materials, provide feedback or assist with a specific initiative between meetings.

Why join a committee?

Serving on a committee is a practical way to:

  • Make a meaningful contribution to community soccer
  • Learn how VAFC operates behind the scenes
  • Share your knowledge, professional experience or community perspective
  • Meet other people who care about the Club
  • Gain experience that can help prepare you for possible future service on VAFC’s Board of Directors

You do not need previous Board or committee experience—just an interest in helping and a willingness to participate constructively.

Past and present VAFC committees

VAFC forms committees according to the Club’s priorities and needs. Examples have included:

  • Fields & Facilities
  • Finance & Audit
  • Governance and Succession
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing, Recruitment & Retention
  • Youth Development
  • Tournaments & Events
  • Sponsorship
  • Scholarship Selection
  • Volunteer Recruitment

Some committees operate throughout the year, while others are created for a particular project or period.
